Flyball is a team sport for dogs. Each team consists of 4-6
dog/handler teams. It can be described simply as a 4X4 relay race for
dogs. Each dog must run a 51 foot course over 4 jumps to a box they
must then trigger to release their tennis ball. For more details visit
the
North American Flyball
Association (NAFA) website.
Greater Lincoln Obedience Club's flyball team is the
Checkered Flag K9's.
Flyball classes use a back chaining technique. Your dog will learn a
recall over one jump first. The dog will learn to turn properly on the
flyball box. When the dog has the knowledge of these concepts, you
will start putting them all together. Advanced students in flyball
will learn to do all the above with distractions!
If
your dog is extremely active and in need of some mental stimulation flyball
may be just the sport for them. |
