The following are the exercises you will need for the Novice level of AKC Obedience.  You will learn these and a lot more in the Basic Obedience classes.  When you obtain 3 qualifying legs you will earn the title COMPANION DOG or CD.

• Novice Obedience

  • Heel on Lead

  • Figure 8

  • Stand for Exam

  • Heel off lead

  • Recall

  • One minute sit-stay with handler in the ring

  • Three minute down-stay with handler in the ring

    • Your dog will also need to know how to finish

    For UKC obedience your will earn the title UNITED COMPANION DOG or UCD.  Once again you will need three qualifying scores.
