Flyball is a sport that nearly any dog can compete in. A relay race that involves dogs retrieving tennis balls from a box at the end of a 50' course consisting of 4 jumps. The height of the jumps is based on the height of the smallest dog on the team with the minimum jump height being 7" and the maximum being 16". While Border Collies and Australian Shepherds seem to excel at the sport, other breeds have successfully competed from French Bulldogs all the way up to Great Danes.
Most dogs who do flyball should love playing with balls and rope toys. They should also be physically capable of running and jumping. Triggering the box that delivers the tennis ball is a skill your dog will learn in class but in order to learn that skill, your dog should know how to come when called and not be too shy to approach strangers.
